| Antique & Vintage Corkscrew Guide ~ Bow Corkscrews ~ |
|
Simple but ingenious with a hinged helix that folds safely away when not in use. Folding bow corkscrews also known as harps were first produced during the 18th century. Two hundred years later, collectors are keenly searching to add interesting variants to their collections. Simple bows with just a corkscrew can be found quite easily for about a fiver. Named, interesting designs, faceted, decorative & multi tool bows fetch plenty more. To the left is an interesting group of bow corkscrews including a few examples with an additional tool. |

| Here's a group of four beautiful folding bows corkscrews with decorative surrounds. It's worth paying extra for beauties like these which are quite hard to find. Two of the three miniature bows in the picture to your right aslo have some lovely decorative detail. |

| These beautiful miniature bows were designed to open perfume, medicine & ink which were all corked in years gone by. |

| It must be the romantic in me. I just love the bows that were produced in a heart shape. These Victorian & Edwardian bow corkscrews are all worthy additions to a corkscrew collection. |

| This absolutely wonderful bow is also a carriage key. The faceted surround is beautiful on this piece. |
This seven tool bow is quite a rare find. It has a cartridge remover as one of the tools. |
One of my favourite bows. It has advertising for D. Walters on one side & is marked XMAS 1905 on the other. |

| Here's a very nice ten tool nickel plated bow in very good condition. It's very hard to find examples as good as this one so it's worth paying extra if you find one in good shape. |

| GOOD IDEA Always check the hinge action. Many turn up quite loose, so it's worth waiting for a good one with a firm action. |
| I'm always on the hunt for interesting folding bows to add to my own collection. If you have any that you would like to trade or sell please drop me a line. Peter@corkscrewsonline.com |
